Job Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of 30-60 cases including both affirmative and defensive cases;
Conduct consultations, screening for potential claims for relief and providing legal counsel and advice;
Provide full-scope representation to individuals facing removal before the Immigration Court, or before U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of State (DOS), and the Board of Immigration Appeals in a variety of legal matters including asylum, U-visas, family petitions, work permits, follow to join petitions, and others
Be able and willing to work under the supervision of an attorney and collaboratively with a team of attorneys, DOJ accredited representatives, and legal assistants
Participate in collaborative and organizational activities, meetings, events, and community outreach alongside the legal team
Attend legal team meetings and organizational staff meetings
Qualifications:
J.D. or LLM from an ABA certified law school;
A current bar membership in good standing in any state;
1-2 years of legal experience practicing immigration law and direct services, primarily asylum law;
Excellent writing, editing, legal research and analysis, and oral presentation skills;
Ability to work effectively with low-income individuals, including clients with mental illness;
A strong commitment to immigrant rights and community empowerment;
Commitment to providing culturally competent services;
Second language proficiency in French or any language from the African subcontinent preferred, but not required
Compensation/Benefits
Salary range is $65,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities:
Conduct Intake of new clients and answer incoming calls to our intake line
Assist attorneys and DOJ Accredited Representatives with immigration cases before Executive Office of Immigration Review, USCIS, US Department of State, etc.
Participate in Legal Team Meetings and other collaborative activities and organizational events
Assisting with in office administrative functions
Provide referrals to other community-based agencies
Participate in agency’s outreach and advocacy efforts
Perform duties as assigned or approved by the program supervisor
Qualifications:
College graduate or equivalent experience
Ability to maintain good working relations with culturally diverse staff and clients
A team player and enjoys working with people from different ethnic backgrounds
Must be able to prioritize, manage, and process multiple cases within strict timelines in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment under moderate supervision and direction.
Strong Attention to detail
Excellent English language verbal and written skills
French, Haitian Creole, Tigrinya, Amharic or other language skills highly desired but not required
Compensation/Benefits
Hourly Wage is $27.00-$33.00 an hour for a 40-hour work week, commensurate with experience and qualifications. AAN offers excellent benefits, medical/dental/vision insurance, vacation and sick leave, as well as annual paid office closures in the summer and winter.
