Noncitizen parents can register to vote in the upcoming SFUSD School Board Election

Did you know that non-citizen immigrant parents could legally vote in the upcoming San Francisco School Board election?

1.     REVIEW THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must meet all the requirements below to vote in the upcoming School Board election:

  • Resident of San Francisco

  • At least 18 years old on February 15, 2022

  • Parent, legal guardian, or caregiver of a child under 19 who lives in San Francisco

  • Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court

  • Not in state or federal prison for a felony conviction

 

2.     REGISTER BY JANUARY 31ST, 2022

Scan the QR code or visit bit.ly/SFimmigrantvote to print the Non-Citizen Voter Registration Form and return it to the Department of Elections by mail or in person at City Hall.

 

3.     VOTE BY FEBRUARY 15, 2022

Decide how to vote: by mail or in-person at the City Hall Voting Center or a polling place. Eligible voters that miss the registration deadline can still vote on election day by casting a provisional ballot at the City Hall Voting Center or their assigned polling place. NONCITIZEN VOTERS: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

·      Noncitizens are not eligible to vote in any other local, state, or federal election.

·      You have the right to get help with registration and voting in your preferred

language.

·      The information you provide to the Department of Elections when registering,

including your name and address, could be accessed by federal agencies, including

Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

·      Upon request, the Department of Elections can provide a letter explaining your

eligibility to vote in San Francisco School Board elections as a noncitizen, as may be

needed for the naturalization process.
