Immigrant Parent Voting Collaborative Celebrates the Permanent Extension of Noncitizen Voting Rights in SFUSD Elections

SAN FRANCISCO – The Immigrant Parent Voting Collaborative (IPVC) celebrates the civic power

of immigrant families, which the Board of Supervisors expanded with a vote to allow all San

Francisco parents to vote in School Board elections, regardless of their immigration status.

A huge victory, in a time when voting rights are under attack, San Francisco has taken a stand to

say that everyone’s voice matters. IPVC will discuss its role in conducting multilingual

grassroots outreach and education to newly enfranchised voters in diverse racial and ethnic

immigrant communities. The IPVC will also share important information about who qualifies to

vote and discuss its plans to continue efforts to inform, protect, and engage eligible non-citizen

voters in anticipation of the 2022 special SFUSD School Board Elections.

Joined by Supervisors Chan and Melgar, speakers will uplift best practices at implementing

non-citizen voting and highlight the role of grassroots leadership to make San Francisco a

leader in immigrant rights and civic engagement.
