Callie Cowdery, Esq.

SUpervising attorney

Callie joined the AAN in January of 2020 and works on representing detained individuals through out detention facilities in Northern California. Before joining AAN, she worked as a legal clerk at the Law Office of Tala Hartsough, where she represented clients in affirmative immigration matters and removal proceedings in San Francisco Immigration Court.

Callie graduated from the University of St Andrews in Scotland with a joint degree in Arabic and International Relations with a concentration on human rights in the Middle East and North Africa.

In 2019, she earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in Washington D.C. While in law school, Callie volunteered for her school’s International Refugee Assistance Project chapter, representing individuals abroad to obtain refugee status and Special Immigrant Visas. She was a student attorney in the Family Justice Clinic where she represented clients in family court litigation, as well as domestic violence victims in obtaining temporary restraining orders in D.C. Superior Court. Callie was a member of her school’s Moot Court team and the International Law Review. She received recognition for completing over 900 hours of pro bono work.

Callie is a bay area native. Before heading back West, her previous experience in immigration law includes aiding in the representation of clients affirmatively and defensively in small firms in Northern Virginia, as well as at various nonprofits.

Callie is a member of the California State bar. She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French.
