Michelle Devereaux, Esq.
Staff attorney
Michelle joined AAN in November 2021 and provides defensive representation to those in mmigration court proceedings. Before joining AAN, she worked as a fellow at Jewish Family and Children’s Services assisting with affirmative immigration matters such as citizenship and
spousal visas.
Michelle graduated from the University of San Francisco with a major in International Studies with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Studies and a minor in European Studies.
In 2019, she earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. While in law school, Michelle worked at her university’s pro-bono immigration clinic, conducting intake evaluations for community members in need of legal advice. She also worked at her university’s International Human Rights Clinic, where she assisted an international NGO in the preparation of case involving war crimes.
During her time in law school, Michelle also completed a legal internship with Jesuit Refugee Services in Malta, where she prepared appeals for asylum seekers and provided urgent legal assistance for those in temporary detention.
Michelle was also a member of her school’s Moot Court team, which participated in an international humanitarian law competition held by the American Red Cross. Since competing, Michelle has continued to serve as a co-coach for current teams.
Michelle is a member of the California State Bar.
